camp Ñ
a fun way to learn Spanish!
Summer 2010
Dear Parents,
Welcome to camp Ñ! We are excited about all of the fun activities we have planned to share with our campers this summer. We are sure
your child(ren) will not only learn Spanish but most importantly have FUN!
The following is list of useful information:
1. Prompt Arrival & Pick Up Time: Camp hours are from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Sign In: Parents will sign in their child(ren) on their child’s first day of camp only. After that attendance will be taken inside by their
counselors.
Sign Out: During dismissal, parents are to sign out their child(ren) at the designated table and wait outside until their child is called. For
safety reasons, we ask that no one enter the building until everyone has been dismissed. Proper identification is required in order to pick
up campers. If someone other than the authorized persons on the application will be picking up your child(ren) please let us know in
writing prior to pick up time.
2. Morning and After Care:
Morning Care Hours: 8:00 am – 9:00 am- Morning Care cost is $50.00 per session. Campers that are not enrolled in Morning Care may
be dropped off no earlier than 8:50 am. Morning Care can be purchased on a daily basis for $5.00.
After Care Hours: 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm. After Care cost is $100.00 per session. If a camper is not picked up by 3:15 they will be placed in
After Care for $10.00 a day. Campers not picked up by 5:30 sharp will be charged an additional $10.00 for every 10 minutes. The building
will be closed at 5:45 pm.
3. Pool: Thursday is Water Day!
Four year old campers will have a SPLASH DAY with kiddie pools and water games on the camp grounds. Weather permitting, all other
campers with their parents’ permission will go to the University pool located in the University Center for recreational swimming. On duty
certified lifeguards and our staff will provide supervision at the pool. Bring sunscreen, bathing suit (worn under your clothes), and a
towel.
Be sure to label all belongings.
If you do not want your child to go swimming, alternate activities will take place such as, arts & crafts and water games. If your child
cannot swim we suggest they stay at the camp enjoying other fun activities. We do not provide swimming lessons.
4. Sunscreen/Insect Repellent: Since we will be participating in outdoor activities we recommend applying sunscreen or insect
repellent before you arrive to camp. Campers may bring their own sunscreen or insect repellent to reapply throughout the day. Please
label all belongings.
5. Lunch: If you have not pre-paid lunch, it may be purchased on a daily basis for $5.00 a day. Let us know when you arrive in the
morning if you will be purchasing lunch.
The lunch menu is as follows:
Monday: Pizza
Tuesday: Ham and Cheese Sandwich
Wednesday: Hot Dog
Thursday: Hamburger/Cheeseburger
Friday: Pizza
6. Field Trips: TUESDAYS will be field trip day. It is essential that campers arrive on time to avoid delays. Campers that are bringing
lunch from home need to place it in a disposable brown bag with their name on it. Due to Miami’s hot weather, we recommend that
campers bring a bottle of water with their name on it to take on the field trip.
The field trip schedule is as follows: (To be announced)
Session A: 6/15- 6/22-
Session B:6/29 7/6-
Session C:7/13 7/20-
Session D: 7/27- 8/3-
7.T-Shirts: Each camper will be given a complimentary camp T-shirt on the first
day of camp. Campers MUST wear their T-Shirts on field trip days.
8. Field Day- On the first Friday of every session we will have a field day. Campers will race and play outdoor games against each other.
9. Show: On the last Friday at the end of every session, there will be a show at 2:00 pm. Parents are welcome to come but cannot park
in the back of the building due to the limited space. You may park on the designated U.M. areas. There will be no after care on the last
Friday of each session. Dismissal will be directly after the show.
